I am at around 150 days, chargeoff is on june 29 (about 40 days away) and they are steadfastly offering me 65percent on a 6200 dollar balance--2182. She told me she couldn't even accept 2180...she refused to budge on that offer and told me that it might even go up before chargeoff. Has anyone ever gotten barclays to go under that 65percent offer they make at 150 days, and if so, how do i do it?..she told me she was an "account manager" and there was nobody else above her that I could talk to. It's just hard to believe that they wouldn't be at least willing to negotiate about that amount. Anyone know anything that could help me in my endeavor to get a 20-25percent settlement, or even 30percent at this point would be nice?

Well, there are a lot of settlement companies that offer free counseling sessions. But you have to be sure that you're indeed working with a legitimate company. Go through their accreditations and read through the testimonials offered by satisfied consumers. Next time you speak to her, be adamant about not being able to do the 65%. Tell her that if they can't settle at a lower percentage, then you'll have to let it charge off. You might be able to get a better deal with the collection agency.

I let my Bank of America charge off and ended up settling with the CA for 25-30%. I don't have any experience with Barclays. You might want to do a search on them on this site and read what others have experienced.

Good luck.
