I am so pleased my Debt settlement company just called and I finally settled with AMEX. Amex sent me to court and they won a judgment and garnisment. The problem is I was never served the summons they served me at an old address in which I haven't lived at for 12 years, I have made a motion to vacate that said judgment. My court date is Oct 27th. In the mean time my DSC has settled this account for 50.3% I am not overly thrilled with the amount but it's paid and I can move on to my last account. I am finally able to breath a little and can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Oh and before anyone gets on the "You should pay all the money back" bandwagon. I simply couldn't do that as much as I wanted to. I have had a horrible streak of bad luck and job hours cut which meant I couldn't pay those creditors. I felt that it was better to give them something than to file for bankruptcy and them not get anything. Each on of us has a story and before you judge anyone you need to walk in our shoes for a few months and see what it is like.
Good luck every one you can get there too.

Sometimes you do get into a situation where you have a choice of repaying or feeding your kids or paying your electric. You can't always pay everyone back. Anyone who says that every must always pay back has never been down that road. I want to pay my doctor but after 60 days he charged off the account. I now am expected to pay a collector who bought it. Let him try to get my insurance company to pay it like I did before it was charged off. You can't always pay everyone back. Ask the 99ers who ran out of unemployment benefits how they're going to pay people back. But give them something to eat first. Some people are living in a fantasy world until they lose their job.

I agree -- there are so many people out there that have been out of work for so long --

we are in real trouble -- the wall street riots are part of this -- tons of people that lost their jobs are protesting every day -- one guy just lost his job and took a bus from the midwest to join in --

someone has to listen -- we need real help -- the markets not doing any better -- europe and the us are in trouble -- we need to get things going --
some lobbyist are suggesting writing off us debt to jumpstart this economy -- might be a good idea
