Can You Go Through Debt Settlement Twice?

Hi everyone! I used an attorney and went through Debt Settlement back in 2009. I was getting back on track with my finances the past few years, but then last year I had a baby and I was diagnosed with cancer and missed a lot of time from work to go through treatment. So now I have about $10,000 in debt again that I just cannot pay.
My question is, can I go through debt settlement again? I learned a lot from reading posts on this wonderful website, and I am thinking I could tackle the settlement myself this time and save on the attorney fees.
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!
