What type of firms are you looking for? If your looking for debt settlement, make sure they have attorneys who will supervise your case in your home state and that your money goes towards settling your debt from day one. You can click on the profiles of members on this site to find a reputable debt settlement company.

Forget DS Companies. They charge 15% plus monthly fees and do not do anything until they are paid first. I FOUND an attorney who settles for less than 1.5 % on an 80 K debt and NO monthly fees. NO DS Company does that, because they are all ripoffs.
Do it yourself, or find an attorney. I found one by searching the internet for 1 month. SInce you cannot advertise on here, I am not saying who it is.

All you have to do is search for DEBT SETTLEMENT attorney, or a variation of that, in the state you live in, or in an adjacent state. Make sure the Attorney is licensed in your state. You will eventually find one that is halfway honest. No attorney is completely honest. HAHA

Just think, with the 15% these DS companies charge, you can hire any attorney to do what they do at that cost.

they may have pretty girls, pretty scenes of families frolicking through the flowers in a debt free life, but over 70 % of people who enter these programs with DS companies FAIL. Forget the TASC affiliates, its all a scam. THEY own TASC.

DISCLAIMER: I am not an attorney, nor is any of my advice worth anything. It is worth as much as you paid for it, which is absolutely nothing.

follow chrys's advice, and also if you decide to use a company it is important to be sure that they can practice in your state. usually they will tell you this right away but some wont. be sure you know all about settlement and how it works before making a decision. know what can and or cant happen so you are prepared for what is to come so you are not suprised alot of people get wrapped up into settlement and are shocked when things happen.
good luck to you!
