25% of 26000.Four payments of 1600.My question is can i use a savings account i have at the same bank as my checking to allow them to withdraw the payments.Would this keep my checking account safe.I would only have the money for the payments in it,and also would the 1099 be issued for next year being the account will not be fully settled until february. Thanks

i wouldnt do that, i would use a money order or such. but if you must do you have a debit card? that is better than giving them account numbers because the bank can charge back if they try anything funny. a account number they cant do that with and it leaves you kinda vulnerable and stuck. and the 1099 would come out the year it was paid in full but you will most likely be eligible for the 982 form that makes you exempt talk to your tax preparer about it, its a simple form that is filled out were you wont need to pay the forgiven tax.

I quit paying in july and ignored all calls and letters from them until yesterday. They generally called me once a week until the last couple of weeks when the called twice a week. The left a voicemail that said the account was getting close to chargeoff and they had some great offers for me that would help me "get out from under this debt".So i called and they offered me a 5 yr plan at 504 a month to pay off both accounts at 3% interest or a settlement of 25% in 4 payments of 1600.00.I accepted this offer immediately.I was expecting to have to negotiate my way down to 25 or 30% but they offered 25 right off the bat so i jumped. I have to say they were extremely nice about the whole thing.I only hope chase will be this easy!
