Help! I cannot make cc payments!

[COLOR=black]I have about 20,00 on credit card debt (Some chase, some citibank and discover). My husband recently lost his job and now we have to choose what we spend my income on...diapers and electricity or credit card bills. I cannot do this anymore. I am not sleeping and I this debt is ruining my life. I fee terrible for not making payments on time, but when I send the minimum payment 200 goes to interest and about 40 goes to what I really owe. I have cut up all my cards and we have been living from my income for about a month now. Of course this means ALL my cc payments are past due.[/COLOR]
[COLOR=black]I have tried to not think about it, but obviously it keeps me up at night. I was thinking about going through a credit-counseling agency, but I am also seeing a lot about debt settlement. SO I guess my questions are:[/COLOR]
[COLOR=black]Has anyone gone through a credit-counseling program?[/COLOR]
[COLOR=black]Would you recommend one?[/COLOR]

[COLOR=black]Has anyone done debt settlement with a company or on their own?[/COLOR]

[COLOR=black]I am extremely glad that I found this site because I am extremely embarrassed to be in this situation. I am a school teacher and I sometimes feel that I have let everyone down by falling into this predicament!! I am soo ashamed and helpless... PLEASE help me![/COLOR]

Please Maria, stop feeling bad. We all have run ourselves into the same situation some time or the other and that is why we all are here. I'm sure that there is still hope for you.
You can either choose credit counselling or settlement to reduce your debt. You can search the site to read more about the debt relief plans available to you. Check out the DIY section if you're interested in doing it yourself.
Also you can sign up with this site for a free counselling. It may worth trying.
