Hi. Has anyone ever tried/had luck with the chat feature on citibank, in order to get a settlement? We are almost 60 days behind and are trying to get a settlement with our tax return...
Thanks!

I saw that when I was on the site.I didnt do it.But they wont do any better than the computerized offer they say on thier website.(Did you get a email with a offer to go to thier site?) Anyway, 45% is the best I could get at 120 days. I took it.I have argued and kept to the same storey for months(Im going on 140 days or so) they wont budge..
Its the last one, and Im glad it's all over for now.I did it on line and they did send a letter confirming the agreement.

I posted the original question... just wanted to follow up! They wouldn't offer any me any settlements on the on-line chat, but within an hour, I got a call from Citi. They actually left a message, which they usually don't. I called her back today and was able to settle for 50%! We are only 54 days past due, so we were ecstatic and took the offer.

Thank you all for your help! This board has been invaluable! Citi is one of 3 creditors we are trying to settle with. First one to settle.. Discover and BOA are the other two...

All of these Citibank cc's are totally disorganized. They have multiple call centers and I believe the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing!

You can get different settlement %'s if you speak with multiple people.

I returned every phone call and made it a point to repeat my story over and over again. Sure it takes time but it's well worth the effort.

Never again will I ever use a credit card.....never. And I accepted the fact that this mess is my own damn fault. The CC companies have made tons of money off of me and my stupidity.....no more.

It may be a long tough road but stick with your initial story. And compliment the agent on their courtesy, etc. Never lose your cool, ever.

I settled Citibank for 45% @ 61 days past due.

Good Luck.
And thanks for all of the great info in this forum.
