I dont want to frown upon any companies that actually might help.
When i started settling debt there were about 5 companies that settled debt, now there are 2000+, most of these refi idiots that have screwed up our economy have jumped into this business for the money making profit. its very sad and these people should be locked up in my eyes.
you need to do some research and find an HONEST settlement company that will tell you the truth, most companies will take you in in a heart beat claiming they will help you , truth is some people qualify for debt settlement and some dont.
you also need to find an AFFORDABLE settlement company that will settle your debts on a performance based structure, there are way to many companies that do ALL fees upfront giving them NO reason to settle your debts because the already have your money. the money in these companies are not in settling but in enrolling people.
