I am 130 days late with GE Capital , how do I start the settlement conversation? They have not brought it up to me they only bring up hardship plans that I still can't afford?

So I owe $4200 so I just say I was thinking of settling the account and then say I can Pay ? Should I give them a dollar amount of a percentage?

Don't use percentages. Tell them that you may be able to borrow some money from a family member to settle the account. Then offer whatever 25% of the debt is in dollars and tell them you would have to pay it in two installments. They will counter with a lump sum amount. If the debt is with an agency, they may give up a little money to get a lump sum, especially if it is near the end of the month.

It might be a little early. Usually after 150 days they will be a little more motivated.
