I would like to do my own debe settlement but how can I pull it off. Most of the companies say do not pay save and then pay on the settlement they make from the savings. Can I pull this off or am I in over my head. (in more ways than one.)

Before starting up you need to buckle up certain things as you do not want to seek any kind of professional assistance. So, if you are having the necessary cash, then stretch out for a negotiation. Chalk out a budget on your financial situation and check out the affordability before making any commitment.

To know more and to get things back into shape I believe the thread: "debtconsolidationcare.com/steps.html" will be of good help.

Bob you can check out the 'do it yourself' corner which is designed to help people like you who want to settle their debts themselves. Also, Chris's reply is pretty exhaustive in nature.

However, if you want to settle your debts, most of the lenders won't consider settlement untill you're late on your accounts by 90 days or so. Hence, the companies have said it right.

Also, some of the lenders may only agree to settlement if you can pay in lump sum. Hence, you need to come up with the money immediately while negotiating settlement.
