This site is a lead site

You have a choice to sign up for consultations...or you can just ask questions or contribute to this board. Nobody is forcing you to sign up. I never signed up and I have never received a call.

yes once you register there is an option if you want to be contacted.if you don't then opt out of that option.i opted out,and never got a call.if you inadvertantly didn't opt out then contact an admin and they will take care of it for you.i agree with SOAPLADY if you don't like the sight don't come on,but also don't deride it without reason.

I didn't sign on either. I was looking for help with payday loans and this site was a godsend for me. At the time I signed up I was in a debt management program, and I decided it was better for my financial future to get out of debt quickly, so I opted to do my own settlements with the advice on this board. No one needs a debt settlement company to do this. You can do it yourself, faster and more efficiently and retain control of your finances. So there.....

I also did not sign up for anything nor receive any calls. This is an awesome site for someone who wants to settle their own debts and save thousands in fees.:p

It is funny that you say they sell info and call people. If you look and see how many years I have been here, I am here to tell you I have never received one call, spam,etc.

I did not do the counseling or debt programs. The people here helped me learn how to do this myself to get out of debt, and I did. Not only do I advocate doing it yourself, there are many others here that do the same.

I also tell others to do their homework and check out any company they may be considering,in other areas, besides here.

If you want help and some answers and solutions, you will find it here. If you don't want or need help-this site probably won't help you..karen

Exactly what the others said, you have options to sign up for a consultation, or just to sign up to receive advice from the members. I have NEVER recommended a debt consolidation company to ANYone, it's against the TOS for us to do so. I share my knowledge and nothing more. The advertisements helps pay the bills so we can keep this site alive, just as any other website. Google automatically runs the ads based on the information on this site, and as you know this site is debt related.

Someone had sour milk in their cheerios today. I DID receive a call because I asked for one to look at my options. I was in a state of panic at the time and didn't know what I was doing. Since then I have utilized a ton of information off this site and have neither been "harassed" or "hounded".... in fact the person that DID call me said that I had their number should I change my mind. I can across this site by googling something else (I don't even remember now) and have found it to be a wonderful source of information and experiences that assist me with my own struggles and successes. It's a way I can openly discuss the debt issues in my life so I am not "hiding" from them with others who aren't going to judge me because they have been there and want to share their knowledge of how to get out. Plus when I do have questions I can post them here and someone will generally respond to me with great information..... so if you don't want all that then don't come here.

ditto. never a call or harrassment. this is the best forum on settlement I could find, and I have searched thoroughly. having it be a commercial enterprise is a small price to pay to use the service offered here.
