Allied Interstate, Inc. representing AMEX???

I got a call from Allied Interstate, Inc. stating that they're doing the collections for AMEX. So I'm assuming AMEX still has the account, but AI is doing the collections. Account is 120 days pass due. Rep said AMEX wasn't offering any settlement at this point.
I told the rep the whole situation... this is my mothers account... health issues, no inc, etc... She told me to write up an e-mail explaining situation and she will go back to AMEX to see if she can work something out.
Has anyone heard of this? A hired CA gonig back to OC to try to work something out on my behalf??

They might talk to amex and they might not. Often a collector w
They might talk to amex and they might not. Often a collector will write up a request for client services to review. They will pull her credit and see what is happening and go from there
