B of A Call AFTER Settlment
Date: Sat, 04/10/2010 - 07:37
I settled my B of A account 5 days ago, received the letter and made the first payment. I thought it was wierd that the 2nd payment wasn't due until May 30th almost two months away and the 3rd and final payment due June 30th. Well that was fine with me so I agreed to the dates the rep gave me.
Well yesterday I received a call from B of A on my cell phone which they never have called before and the girl stated that she needed a payment today for $290 to keep my account from going to the next level of delinquency. I told her I had a settlement agreement and she said she could see that and the payment would be applied toward the $5500 remaining due on the settlement. Well of course I was in a parking lot in my car and I got really upset and confused on why I would care if it went to the next level of delinquency and also why is it going there when I have a settlement agreement. I told her that she could not talk to me on this phone and she would have to call me back on my house phone.
when I got home there was already a message on my machine from her so I called back. the rep I talked to also tried to get me to pay. Both girls were very aggressive. So I told her if she adjusted the settlement to $4500 remaining and sent a revised settlement letter showing the new terms that I would pay the whole thing by next Wednesday (their deadline for the move to next delinquency). She said she didn't know if they could do that as another department set up the agreement but would talk to a supervisor and put me on hold.
She came back on the line after talking to the supervisor super apologetic and said not to worry about it and to pay the payments as on the letter. Sounds like someone did something wrong. But be aware that it appears they will still continue collection activity until the whole settlement has been paid.
Has any one else had B of A continue collection activities after they have received and agreed to a settlement?

No. But if you have the settlement letter you have done your due diligence and it is likely just an internal snafu. Sorry you have to go through this.
