did you get this in writing?if so,then take it.however,if everything was done by phone i wouldn't accept it.advanta is bankrupt,and this is a bottomfeeder.that being said if the offer is in writing go for it.if not then there is a catch.

Thanks...I'm the original poster...i'm waiting on the fax letter right now...my question is is there anything specific I need to look out for in the letter??? Also, they want $ tonight....I can Western Union the funds and my question here (never used Wester union before) is that if i pay WU with a debit card is there any way Phillips can trace where the funds came from?? Please let me know and I'll keep u all posted througout the rest of today.

i would ask them for a clause that states they won't sell the forgiven portion.that's just my paranoid side,but places like this sell forgiven debt all the time.you don't want another collector coming at you for the rest.
what you need from them is a settlement letter stating the deal
what you need from them is a settlement letter stating the deal in writing and the actual debt amount written clearly once you have this in writing only the n give them the money if you don't get that in writing they may come back for more and you wont have any proof then so only when you get the settlement letter in writing then go foward with the payment of the money and it would be a good idea to pay them by a check instead of western union so that you have a record of it
