I have found this collection on my husband's report and wouldn't mind clearing it up if I knew it was for real? He is in the navy, the debt occurred before our marriage or his time in the navy, and so I have no access to old phone bills. I just don't want to send money in and it be scam. If its real they're probably sending letters to his pre-navy address, but I'd like a phone number to verify.

Who are they? And, since the debt belongs to your husband the collection agency might not even talk to you about it.
How old is the debt? Check if its still within the legal SOL.
