Greetings,
Welcome to the forums!
Regarding your question regarding DS companies "Do these companies really work?"
Some of us will say no!
Others will say maybe?
Others will say yes!
Another will say do it yourself.
My answer to you is to read, read and read some more in these great forums.
Ask questions, pm posters and gather your data.
Only you can decide which path to pursue.
How much are you in debt and to whom?

Be careful when you are deciding on debt settlement. Depending on the account that you may have, you could end up in court with a judgment. I went through a debt settlement company, and now that I looked back on it, I regretted it. Yes they settled a couple of my accounts, but I also ended up in court over an account which they said would never end up there. After getting that scare I pulled out of the company, and I decided to handle it on my own. I called the credit company and they were more than willing to work with me and today I am totally debt free, with no judgments. Before resorting to a settlement company I would caution you this. #1 Be ready to have a bad credit score. They are going to tell you to stop paying on your credit cards so they can attempt to settle, which may not always work. #2 Before resorting to it call the companies and see if they will work with you on dropping the interest or lowering the payments. Yes this will take longer, but your credit score would not suffer as bad. Lastly #3 If you decide to go a settlement route, tell them that you want to know of ANY offers they may get. Sometimes they will not tell you unless it is what they want to hear, to make them look good. I wish you good luck, and hope all the best for you.
