Car repo debt after 15 years!

My ex husband and I had a car repossed after our divorce. It has been 15 years since the repo, and we just got a call from a company that bought the debt from the original lender. I thought the SOL for CA was 4 years? How can the new debtor come after us now? Afer all these years?

I do not know of any state that allows a suit after 15 years! Send them a debt validation letter by certified return receipt mail! Ask them to prove that you owe the money and from when! Require them to prove that the SOL has not expired! The only way this could be pursuable is if you admitted to the debt within the SOL period of 4 years, if that is truly your states laws!
