I receive collection calls from these people when I never have had a loan out from them or have ever gone to a collection agency for lack of paying my bills. How can I get them to stop calling? When I talk with them they say they will take me off the list but do not. They do not even have my name.. just my number.. which I have had for about four years.

Hi

You can also write a "Do Not Call" letter and send it both to the creditor and their harassing representative. This letter should include your name, and information about when, where, and how they had tried to contact you. Make sure to send this letter via certified mail so you will have evidence the letter was received, a supportive document is required in the future.

Every answer above is correct! A cease and desist letter and a do not call letter are pretty much the same thing! The FDCPA says that they must cease communication and collection after you send them a debt validation letter! After they validate the debt, which they won't if it is not yours, then you send them a letter telling them that they can only contact you through the USPS.
