Old Credit Card from 1998

I had an old credit card with providian bank, sometime around 1998 which i disputed. Providian never responded and has been transfered to numerous collection co. since that time. Is this still a valid debt. My credit score is quite positive. Now NAFS is sending me a letter.

No! Not unless you admitted to or made a payment on it within the period of the statute of limitations in your state! I do not know where you live but these statutes are usually 4 or 5 years!
