I am finally getting close to my first settlement. Gemb has Allied acting as their agent, I am at 186 days and their offer has now come down to 35% which they stated is the most that they will ever do. I was wondering if anyone had done any better?

I agreed to a four payment 35% settlement and am still awaiting the fax which was supposed to arrive 3 hours ago. (They said it would be sent in 5 minutes)

They were pushing me to get my routing number and set up the payment arrangements from my checking account to get a "confirmation" prior to seeing any paperwork but I refused until seeing settlement agreement in writing. Any advise dealing with them would be appreciated. This is my first settlement and I am nervous.

desiretobedebtfree, you should never give out any kind of bank and account details to collection agencies. First get hold of the settlement agreement. However, if they fail to send you one, you yourself can send them a settlement letter through certified mail, requesting a return receipt.

Thanks for responding SC. I appreciate your advice and will proceed to send them a settlement letter via certified mail. I wasn't going to allow them access to my banking information regardless.

I am also a little concerned at this point because I have not received their fax that they were to send yesterday. I also did not receive my hourly phone calls from them this morning that have began promptly at 8 a.m. every day for the last 5 -6 weeks.

I'll call them this evening to get their mailing address and ask about the fax. Since I'm now at 187 days I'm wondering if they'll probably pass it off.
