Hi All,

I was wondering if I could get some help. I'm currently being sued by a collection agency/law firm. The debt is for 2,500 (original credit card amount was $1500). I have 20 days to enter a written appearance. I really don't feel like going through the whole process of court so do you think its too late to contact the agency and try to settle?

BTW I live in PA if that helps with state law information.

Were you served papers or are they just telling you this? If you were served you must show up in court or you will lose by default and have a judgement against you! If it is a collection agency and not a law firm chances are they are banking on the fact that you won't be there! You could contact the agency but if you do not get anything in writing they could show up in court and screw you! Where are they coming up with the extra thousand dollars? For that figure you could hire an attorney and probably make them go away for good! Better to spend 1000.00 on a lawyer than pay their lawyer plus court costs plus the amount of the debt! Fight the fight! Get an attorney or rep yourself but by all means show up regardless!
