I just found out that my husband has not been taking care of the bills and we are about to lose everything. Is there any hope?

There is always hope! First let him know he can trust you and tell you everything and communicate with you so that you guys get back in track, find out why did he not take care of the bills and talk it out when the kids are not there ( is you have kids) plan a budget, communicate every single penny that goes in and out of the house. so I think the most important thing is to find the source of his actions, then you'll find the solutions.

Hello Suz.....
In December 2009 while out shopping for Christmas....I went to put some shoes for my husband on my credit card when I called him to ask his shoe size and he told me not to put anything more on the card....that was just the beginning. I too had no idea that his business was failing and that he had hid almost $185,000 in cc debt to cover his business. He also had taken out the money on our HELOC. I was out of my mind with grief and worry! Not to mention my marriage was in serious trouble......If it had gone on much longer, I know I would have come home one day to a foreclosure notice on our home. Anyway, fast forward.....past an almost bankruptcy filing.....I found this board about a month ago....we manage to settle all of his business debts for about 25-40% (depending on the card) and we go to counseling and he goes to debtors anonymous. I tell you all this because....there is hope. For your finances and possibly for your marriage. Please know that in some states your credit may be somewhat separate from your husbands. For instance, some of my husband's business debt was in his name only. Get your credit report and his.....look it over carefully and come back and read about settlement, consolidation, and bankruptcy here on this board. You will get information taht will help you. Please keep posting specific questions.....I agree with Paulie, if he is cooperative ...talk to him and communicate. Also, get info from this board. Good luck to you....I will be thinking about you!
