I am $3,000 dollars in debt to the IRS because I did'nt know how to fill out my W-2 form correctly. How can I lower my debt or do away with it all together legally ?

Greetings Donna Rivers,

In my humble opinion and 2 cents worth, run to a CPA that specializes in individual tax returns. If not then maybe one of those storefront operations....the national firms.

You could have missed some important deductions.

As far as I know, the IRS probably won't ever ever go away.

The IRS is very very easy to set up a payment plan with. You can't get out of federal income tax debt - not through bankruptcy - not anyway legally if you actually owe it. Just call them up and they automatically will set you up on a 3 year repayment plan. Easy sneezy. Don't wait for them to come after you though. Then it can get very very nasty.
