DIY pay for delete or debt consolidation?

I owe $1,388 total in debt collections. I have arranged my budget to pay smaller amounts each month for about 6 months and all my debts would be paid in full to the collection agency.
Should I consider debt consolidation or do it myself asking each company for a pay for delete?
