My husband and i have about $11,000 in credit card debt between two credit cards. One is at 17% and the other at 15%. Should we go through a loan consolidation? Or what should we do?

Yes, you can go forward and consolidate both your CC debts on your own. In that way, you'll not have to pay the fees of those debt consolidation companies. You should get yourself a new credit card with a 0% introductory rate and transfer the balance of both your cards to the new account. Now, you can make single monthly payments on this card rather than paying multiple cards. In this way, you'll be able to consolidate your CC debt on your own.

Don't close the accounts after you transfer the balances into the new account as it might affect your credit score.

Paul...do you know anything about credit and finances??? Nobody is getting $11k unsecured for loan consolidations...and credit card companies are not giving out those 0% introductory rate cards like they used to...especially not opening up new lines at $11k.

To the OP...your debt is not that high. You can try a debt management program but it will tank your credit score. Have you thought of picking up an extra job strickly for paying the credit cards???
