FIA Card Services-Withdrawing money from my checking account at Chase unauthorized and not owed
Date: Tue, 09/28/2010 - 11:37
Bank of America denied receiving two payments for that amount, only the one I mailed in. A few days later, I received a letter from Chase saying the debit from FIA was removed. But a week and a half later, 9/22/2010, the same amount, again was taken out of my checking account by FIA and again I have to fight them arbitrarily taking money from my checking account which was not owed.
I never had a card which said FIA. I have been paying my bills at Bank of America completely. I ordered a credit report today.I discovered that FIA made a formal inquiry about the amount on my credit cards shortly before they started making their withdrawals from my checking account. What can I do to stop them (they never had my authority to withdraw money), I owed nothing to Bank of America, and this is clearly fraudulent. Bank of America still claims it was paid only once, but nearly $1,000 is still missing from my checking account taken by FIA, their subsidary. I don't want to pay this month's bill if Bank of America doesn't acknowledge that it owns FIA. The same address and the same phone number is listed for Bank of America and FIA on a Trans Union credit report. Can I do this? Who can I report this to?

FIA Services is, of course, the credit card division of Bank of America. I have no idea what gives them the right or ability to withdraw from your Chase acct. However, they are two thieves in bed together.

File a fraud complaint with your bank, and file a complaint with the Office of Comptroller of the Currency.
This seems to be a common, fraudulent tactic by FIA.
To stop them, it may be necessary to close your checking account and open a new one.

How so? I'm interested in other stories where FIA has done this.
I agree with the above poster. Dispute with your bank, Chase.
I agree with the above poster. Dispute with your bank, Chase. Tell them it's an unauthorized fraudulent withdraw. Chase should take care of it.
Now, if your account was with Bank of America, they CAN take anything they want out of your checking account if you are past due on their credit cards, so be careful.
