A debt settlement will just tank your credit score since you will have to be delinquent for at least 3 months. You can try and ask for a 'Pay for delete' but the chances of getting one is very bleak.

Exactly so!!! The notion 'settled' will stay in your credit report for 7 years and will dent your score big time.

My score went from around 720 to 564 or so. Yeah a little bit of a dip I would say. But worth it. I have no intention of using credit so it simply doesn't matter to me. My home and auto insurance renewed last month and absolutely no change in premium. That was the only thing I was worried about.
