harassment collectors

if collection adgency is contacting me i regards to a debt but is not registered with the state to collect in my state what can i do to stop them from contacting me besides a ceast and disist letter, which has already been sent. i just dont want them to sue if they arent even legally able to collect.

send a DV(debr validation letter)instead of a c&d.with a DV letter if they pursue any further collection activity(including lawsuits)that violates the FDCPA.send the letter certified mail return receipt.they either violate the FDCPA which you now can sue them over,or they go away.

You can send a debt validation letter to the collection agency if they continue to call you regarding debts. If the collection agency can't prove that they are legally entitled to collect the debt, they must stop making collection calls as per the FDCPA laws. If they still call you, report to the attorney general of your state.
