How can I search court records?

I live in Santa Barbara County in California. From what I can tell, a creditor or collection agency has to sue you in the county you live in, correct?
Well, how do I go about searching court cases to see if I am actually being sued? I can't seem to find anything and maybe it is right in front of me and I am not seeing it.

Thank you Soaplady! I had found this page before but couldn't find anything where I could search by name. I know some courts allow you to look up current cases but it appears I am out of luck, right?
Again, sorry if I am missing something right in front of my face!
