Yes, they are legit. I am dealing with them right now on a BofA debt. Settled with them for 25% in 4 payments (supposedly approved by BofA). Just make sure your original creditor turned it over to them.
When I returned their call, I made it clear that I didn't want to be jerked around and was willing to work out a settlement. Previous collection agency violated collection regs so many times I refused to deal with them and waited until BofA sent it to CFG.
Although they have a really bad reputation, I managed to speak to someone with a brain and manners. Account will be paid off end of January.:p
