how do I find out all the places I am in debt with. last year the IRS took my whole tax refund and I want to prevent that from happening this time around. Please help me.

Your return can only be offset if you owe a state or federal debt (past due taxes) or child support. Student loans are included in this. You would have received a letter telling you why you were being offset and by whom. You would need to contact that agency to find out how to get off the offset list.

I enrolled in a progam called Pioneer Credit recovery since the beginning of the year..and I've been making all of my payments ontime. I have loans im paying off for sallie mae which i went to school for in 2006. I am paying sallie mae and I am paying Pioneer monthly..will this stop the tax offset?

Pioneer Credit recovery is a collection agency which are collecting for your guarantor...Sallie Mae filed a claim against you when you defaulted so they are no longer party to your loan.

You must have another loan you are paying directly to Sallie Mae.

You need to call Pioneer and ask them whether your payments will qualify you to be removed from the tax offset list. It all depends on your guarantors requirements....some do, some dont. With a loan in default, they are technically under no obligation to removed the offset but a lot do.

You should change your W-4 with your employer (e.g., claim an additional dependent) so that you no longer get a significant refund. This will result in you getting a little bit more in each paycheck. Take the difference between what you used to get, and what is in your check now, and put it in a cookie jar (it won't earn interest, but the government does not pay you interest either when it holds your money). At tax time, the refund you used to expect will be in your cookie jar in cash, and there will be nothing for your creditor(s) to intercept.
