Try to consolidate and re-pay $20,000 worth of creditors on a $20,000/year salary. It ain't gonna happen, Jack.
Re consolidation, watch them soak up your payments in up-front fees, and you're still in the hole.

YEP!! I agree!! No matter what your income, you WILL be paying more trying to 'consolidate' ANY debts you happen to have. I've called a few 'consolidation companies' in the past. They put fee upon fee on you..and then ask for a bank account over the phone. I actually talked to one who said they "didin't take anything else, for a payment, except checks over the phone, for this 'special program'." That sent up a 'red flag' for me!!
