dead father's debt

My father passed away few months back. He had a personal loan of about $75,000. He had paid back half of the loan. What I want to know is that am I liable to pay off the debt? Can the creditors sue me for my father's debt?

When my buddy passed away, all of the creditors filed with the probate court against the estate and were all paid in full out of the assets of the estate.
