Once a settlement or judgment is paid to an individual, it becomes an asset of that person. In bankruptcy, assets are liquidated, if necessary, and used to pay debts. I would think that the bk court would do this in your case, but if your assets are enough to pay your debts after receiving this aware, you could simply pay your debts.
