I recently realized I had a few unpaid traffic tickets from 2005, that have since gone to collections here in WA state with Alliance One. At this point, they have not been posted on my credit report nor have I been contacted by them (they may have tried sending a letter to the previous out of state address the vehicle was under at the time the tickets were received, but I never received that) Now that my wife and I are getting ready to start shopping for a house, etc. I would like advice on how I can best contact this Collection Agency (which from what I have read is notoriously shady and hard to deal with) to make the payment in full without it being posted onto my credit report as a paid collections account in the future. One would suspect that if I contact them, with the information for all the tickets (this is not a debt that can be disputed at all, it is what it is) wanting to pay in full but NOT wanting it to ever show up in the future, since it hasn't to this point, is there a way to do that legally. I have read that Alliance One will not write or deal with Pay For Delete letters. But since this has not yet been reported, if I just get it paid can they then turn around a report me and totally wreck my near perfect credit score for the next 7 years? There is no applicable SOL on these parking tickets here in WA. I can't go for up to 20 years, after extension.

Should I call (not from my phone of course) and just ask them about this situation voluntarily (without giving name or details or anything) just to feel it out or should I approach this differently? I don't want to ignore it, I actually just want to pay it, but I never want to hear about it again.

Advice please??

I was thinking that, but we could be anywhere from 1 to 2 years even until we get into the place we want. I don't want this to pop up in the meantime. Plus, I'd rather deal with this without getting my wife involved, she doesn't know about these tickets and would be pissed so I am trying to deal with it now so there are no surprises at a critical time when and if they do decide to post them with the 3 CRAs. Basically, I want to know if there are anyone that can give me advice on how to negotiate paying this without having it show up later. I would file a dispute that they were paid before reporting and hope that it did the trick to get them removed, but I don't want it to even get to that. This sucks and is shameful and embarassing, but I do NOT trust Alliance One to not puke them up on my credit report months from now, you know?

This is giving me a great deal of anxiety...
