Car repossessed in 2006

Hello I had a car repossessed in 2006 by GMAC. They are now Ally Financial. The account has been charged off and listed as a balance of $8900 on my credit report. I'm try to clean up my report. What should bemy first step?

If it is reporting correctly, it can legally report for 7 years. Unpaid it is unlikely they will remove if reporting accurately.
