judgment

I had a judgment (illinois) in 2005 and I pled guilty. I made my payments to a lawyer, but one day he sent my check back with a note saying the account had been closed. I contacted Asset because they were the company that put the judgment on me, although I was paying the lawyer (asset's lawyer). Asset would not send me a balance sheet or bill. They just wanted me to send money to this address. I asked for a letter of proof. I needed to know they were who they were. Nothing became of it. Now years later 2010, I just found out I have an open judgment on my credit report. What should I do?

You should have asked for a payment receipt or a bill. Since, you don't have a bill, it will be quite difficult for you to prove that you made payments on the account. Any way, contact a lawyer and explain your situation to him.
