My husband was on my checking account, and even though he never used this account, my checks are getting denied with reason code 4, because his checking account with my name on it, but never used by me, had some insufficient funds when he wrote a check before.
We are now seperated, how can I get my record straight, I have never had an unsufficient check returned,

Even though you never used the account, it had to be a joint acc
Even though you never used the account, it had to be a joint account with your name on the checks and there is the problem. Unfortunately, insufficient fund checks stay on the system for several years. If you do a search on this forum for chex systems, you can read previous posts about how long this will show up. You will need to go to a bank that does not use the chex system. Do a search on line and it will provide you with those names.
