Debt Settlement with Allied Interstate

When I call Ailled Interstate I just get the run around nobody seems to know anything. What do I do? it seems that Allied Interstate took money from me under false pretense.
PRA is probably lying
When you say you rec'd a confirmation number for the payment, this was for payment in full, correct? Did you have any agreement in writing from Allied? From my own experience, I have been harrassed by PRA for a debt long-since settled. What you need to do ASAP, is to contact PRA (in writing) requesting a validation of the debt. Then you can find out, for sure, if the debt is valid. If they give you the same account as you've paid off through Allied, then you can address that, via the confirmation number you've received. You should also request from Allied a validation of the pay-off, even if you received an offer in writing from them. Send all of this, in writing, certified mail, so someone has to sign for it. Keep all of this for the future, so if PRA ever presses it, to the point of dragging you into circuit court, you can tell the judge you attempted to validate the debt, they never responded, and it will likely result in a positive outcome for you. Just make sure you document everything you send out. The request for validation is a sentence or two, referencing the contact they made to you, and they HAVE to respond to that.
Another thing that is odd about this is Portfolio Recovery Assoi
Another thing that is odd about this is Portfolio Recovery Assoicates and Allied Insterstate are one in the same - I have spoken with a 'manager' at Allied Interstate about a loan and when you call his voice mail his message says he is with Portfolio Recovery Associates.
