Ive been reading this forum for over a year -- my first debt settlement happened today -- I settled with best buy hsbc for 40- percent. I know I could have done better but it was my first debt settlement and I was nervous.

I feel really good about it. I saved $1100 from the balance. not to bad. I am glad -- I still have a lot more but this card was at 120 days. I will try home depot next. I have to wait just a little longer

but from reading the forums, I am at that spot ---

the whole world is going downhill -- states looking into bankruptcy -- this is only going to get worse ---

we are in unprecedented territory --- with oil at $104 a barrel --- we the consumers are not the only ones bad off --

thank you to everyone in the forum which has posted ---- everyone that contributes here -- whether you know it or not -- is very helpful --

thank you !!!

Congrats on your first settlement.

That always seem to be the most satisfying settlement of all.

Yes, indeed the world is going to hell but it's just the normal course of mankind.
It goes in cycles and we are in a weird one now for sure.

Please keep us posted.

Ok I have a new question -- I still have not received the confirmation letter from hsbc (best buy) on the settlement agreement -- the rep I spoke to over the phone regarding the settlement knew that I would not pay the first payment until I received a letter from hsbc confirming the settlement agreement. When I called them today they said that a "third party" generates the settlement letters and I would not receive the letter until after the 18th. I don't know If I should trust them and pay the first payment or if I should not give them anything until I get a letter. The person I spoke to today kept saying that I had agreed to the settlement and disclosures over the phone and if I did not pay the first payment I would be charged off. please advise asap. -- I thought I was doing good.
