I pretty much live pay check to pay check and was layed off long enough to get way behind in my bills,. I had a bill for medical procedures that was sent to collection. I made an agreement with them to pay $20. a month until I could pay more. I payed that $20. EVERY month. Now they have sent a threatening letter saying that I refuse to pay even though I am working and called me on the phone that they are going to take me to court to get the rest of the money. Can they get a judgement even if I am paying faithfully? They want $50 a month and I can't afford that right now.

i went through the same thing you are going through right now. i have medical bills in over 2 grand i called them and said this is what i can pay a month and no more, if i can pay mroe great if not then you will at least be getting the minimum i agreed to. well like 3 months later i got a call from some guy saying i was going to be summoned to go to court because i needed to pay more then the 5o dollars i agreed to a month. well i was pretty much freaked out and made some phone calls and was told that i made a erbal agreement to pay the 50 a month until it was paid off and they agreed with that amount so they could not take me to court because we were in agreement and if i did get taken to court then the judge would see that i made an agreement to pay the 50 a month and he wouldnt place any type of judegement against me

thanks alot for your input. However I would like to know if they can get a judgement as long as I AM paying. It used to be if you were paying they couldn't take you to court.
