where do I start?
Date: Fri, 10/15/2010 - 09:10
I have 100k in credit card debt --14 cards total
amex 20k
chase 31 K -- spread out 3 cards
barclays 1900
toyota fin 11k
citibank 5657
capital one 1897
discover 6500
first national 5150
best buy 1500
my mortgage is 5k monthly also -- so not a lot to go around
I have called each credit card seperately and asked for hardship programs
amex put me in one -- 0 for 6mnths and 1 percent min -- then 9.99
chase has one in 2 percent reg minimums -- for 5 years
discover -- 9.99 percent from 19 --
the rest refuse to discuss with me --
my strategy was to stop paying smaller ones first since I dont have that much cash to settle right now -- I've wiped out my 401k loans just to continue paying monthly payments -- now I cant anymore --
I did pay partials on the chase ones but they are still calling now --(not a lot only once a day -- but I at least tried to give something)
I am selling my house -and hoping by the spring i'll be done so I can use for settlement or payoff --
any ideas ? thank you
I'm new too so don't have any words of wisdom..but I'm curious i
I'm new too so don't have any words of wisdom..but I'm curious if Amex and Chase wanted to close your accounts to go into the hardship programs. I have them on my call list.

it doesnt hurt to try to go into the programs-- even though they
it doesnt hurt to try to go into the programs-- even though they close the cards they stop the interest at least half and cut minimums -

True. I have gone into 2 so far, although one was already close
True. I have gone into 2 so far, although one was already closed at the time. BOA put me on a 5 year payout at 3.2% and Sears/Citibank card put me on 0% for 5 year payout. I like having my Amex so guess I won't attempt that one. Might try with Chase though.
chase and amex were the easiest to get into the hardship program
chase and amex were the easiest to get into the hardship program for me --
although one chase came out since they said I couldn't be "approved" --
good luck to you -- I always try those situations first where I can --
anyone else have any advice for me on where to start?
soap lady? any moderators? I would truly appreciate it :)
