I recently was notified of a wage garnishment on June 16th from an old credit card from 15 years ago with the amount of $3508.01, I was offered a settlement amount of $3,084.74, however I could not pay it at that time. On June 30th they garnished my wages 25%. On July 2nd they put a hold on my checking account. I was able to settle that same day with help from a family member and was told I would get a refund of the wages that were previously garnished. They had the money back in my checking account the next day with no problem. On my next paycheck my wages were garnished again, I was told by my employer the company handling the garnishment did not send the release form to my employer notifying them to stop garnishing my wages, thus legally they had to continue. Finally after repeated phone calls to the "law firm" the release form was sent to my employer before the next pay period. On Aug 2nd I received a check from my employer for the second garnishment that was taken, but my employer has still not received a check from the first garnishment. I have contacted the "law firm" several times and basically get the run around, a supervisor will call me back and of course they never do. Am I really due this money or am I just getting the run around from this place and chalk it up as the debt has been paid and I won't be getting harassed anymore? Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

wage garneshments are carried out through officers of the court. the law firm instructs them how to act. unfortunately its not a very quick process. im sure the law firm has told you that they have instructed the officer to return the execution and any monies on hand back to your check. it might still take time. you're going to have to be patient. you can ask the law firm for the officer's phone number, but then be prepared for the officer not answering and you leaving numerous messages...
