i HAD A WELLS FARGO CREIDT CARD BACK IN 08 THE CARDS CHARGES WERE OVERDRAT FEES FROM MY CHECKING ACCOUNT. THEY MARKED IT AS A CHARGE OFF. FRONTIER FINANCIAL GROUP HAS BEEN CALLING ME THREATENING ME BY SAYING THEY ARE GOING TO SUE ME. IF I DO NT SET UP A PAYMENT TODAY WITH THEM. WHAT SHOULD I DO

Ask Frontier Financial to send you a validation of the debt. Don't give them any personal or banking information. You need to know that Wells Fargo turned this over to them. They will call and threaten, but just ignore that. If they are a legit collection agency and if the debt was turned over to them, then they will have no issue with validating the debt.

Validation of debt helps the debtor know the fact whether or not the collection agency (CA) really bought the account from the original creditor. If the collection agency does not own the debt account, then why will the debtor pay to the CA? If the CA can't validate the debt, then the debtor can ask them to not call him or her any further.

Debts are not always bought....often they are assigned by the creditor as in third party collections. Thus the CA does not alway own the debt
