what to do when you received a summon..

I have received a summon from a lending company about the debt of a said friend whom i was a guarantor...they told me to pay her credit since i was the guarantor...What should i do? i didn't say i won't pay, all i need is time.

Unfortunately there is not much you can do. Push came to shove basically and they are demanding their money. At this point respond to the summons and try to work out a payment arrangement, otherwise you might get your wages and/or bank garnished depending on what state you are in.
You should have a serious talk with your friend and get them to help you with this since this friend is as liable as you are...It sounds like this friend has nothing to go after, so they are coming after you.
