I'm in a deep hole with credit cards around twenty thousand. I contacted world law plan for information found the company on google. Any had dealings with them before? The person I spoke with from world law told me my best option is debt settlement. I'm just nervous of getting scammed I'm already in deep enough debt and I'm trying to get out.

world law plan offers 2 attorney debt relief options. they are backed by a global law firm, world law group. there are over 1,0U.S. attorneys in the U.S. and over 2,000 globally. all attorneys are state bar certifed - in your state - and offer very affordable services. i have used their online legal assitance before and continue to do so when the occassion arises.

those who are considering debt settlement find themselves in a losing batte with their unsecured debts (meaning, paying the bills you paid last month are no longer a financial option this month). its the breaking point when you say "I can't keep doing this."

when consumers make it to this point it's 1 of several options: attorney negotiation(debt settlement), bankruptcy, MAYBE credit counseling, borrowing from retirement etc, or do nothing. With world law pLan, like any service, they believe their service is a viable option, which seems to me that it is.

Ask for the full disclosures (per the new federal law in 2010.) Or start selling off what you can, downsize life for awhile (its painful I know), and see what you can do on your own before accepting assistance.

I agree with Soaplady. We found ourselves in a situation where we couldn't make our payments anymore and were considering a debt consolidation company to help us. Thankfully we found this site and decided to go about it on our own. I read these forums over and over and we were able to settle all 5 cards by ourselves, before charge off, and without being sued. Our settlements ranged from 22-50% and our final settlement payments came out to us paying 32% of what our total credit card debt was when we stopped paying and we didn't owe any fees to anyone.

Read the forums and decide if you can do this for yourself. Good luck.

debtinthedistance,

you didn't mention with your own settlements if the creditor wanted the full amount or would allow you to make payments? Most creditors want all the settlement money up-front making it impossilbe for their customers to pay. This greatly enhances using an attorney model to work with your creditors towards a settlement while you build up funds in a monthky escrow account.,

You can do this yourself and save money. Some creditors will do a settlement in payments. I paid my Citibank in 4 installments; Bank of America 4 - and Discover 10. When you call to negotiate a settlement, let them know that you have to do it in installments. Most will work with you - except Capital One.

I settled over $35,000 in credit card debt and all (except Capital) was in installments.
