I am trying to repair my credit. Will filing bankruptcy repair it at all?

Hi RockyS

Welcome to the forums.

If you are thinking of filing bankruptcy, it means that you have not been able to pay your bills and the credit is in bad shape.

From this point, filing bankruptcy will not do repair to your credit. Instead, it will stay on your file for the next 10 years even though the debts get discharged. This will not be viewed positively by your creditors.

Those who have filed chapter 13 bankruptcy, they can't acquire new credit without the permission of the trustee.

To do some constructive repair to your credit, take credit counseling program and solve your debt problems. This will be a suitable approach to repair your bad credit.
