I have several (six to be exact) pay day loans - all from the internet. I have been researching (on this site) what to do. I am already planning to close my bank account later this week and write letters revoking the ach and any wage assignments that I may have signed. I live in South Carolina and do not know what the laws are for my state. Please help!

Thanks for the information. I just want to make sure that I do everything correct:

I have the following PDL:
Ameriloan: Received $350/ Paid $980
Apple: $150/$503.13
Loan Shop khaki: $300/$720
Genevaroth: $300/$540
PayDay Services: $100/$45
White Sands: $450/$270

If I understand I am only required to pay the amount borrowed plus 15% and should I include this in the letter to them. Also can any of these companies take money from a new account at a different bank if I give them no information or authorization?

smile, holy crap! You've really overpaid there! Geesh! Blood suckers! Oh, sorry! Had to vent for one second! In answer to your question - If you have opened a new bank account at a new bank and not given your new information to them, no, they will not get your money any more. That's the safest thing to do. Close the account, get out, go to a new bank, open a new account, and never cruise the pdl sites again! If you need any help with your letters, etc. or have any questions at all, please post. We can help you with whatever you need. :D

On the last two that you have not paid more than the principle. If you end up having to send either of them any more money I would not send a check even if they will accept it. I would not want them getting my new checking information that way. Most of them want a money order anyway.

I agree I have over paid but I didn't think I had an option and believe me I will not be getting another pdl of any kind EVER! Thank you so much for your help and I am sure I will have more questions as I go along.

pyb, sound like smile has been doing some research on this site! smile probably knows that; however, it's excellent to point that out! Thank you! smile, if you send payments in, use either a money order or certified check (I'd use money order - cheaper). Some people use pre-paid debit cards, etc. Anything that does not lead them to any new information regarding you.

Hi there smilingfaces. I'm from SC, too. I was in your position as well. It feels great to be free. Just want to say good luck and to say please, please file complaints with the sc dept. of consumer affairs. The more complaints they get, the more likely these companies will not be able to lend in SC anymore. In fact, I would like to see all of the pdls be banned in our state.
Good luck. :-)
