I receive several emails everyday for payday loans. Some of them are from the companies I defaulted on and then spent months paying off. Like I would be dumb enough to take out a loan again after spending a year trying to pay them off!!!! I definately have learned a lesson.

These types of invitation mails are sent regularly to tempt people. It all begins from the day when your contact email is entered in the company's database. It is a way of advertising about the company and trap down the consumers. It hardly matters whether you have been their privileged customer in the past or not.

You might ignore it once, twice,... but someday, you will definitely go for it. Don't let that day ruin you again.

Some mail providers also let you filter e-mails - when I used hotmail I would use it regularly. You can filter any e-mail that contains "paycheck", "loan", "payday", or whatever else you might waht right into the trash. It worked wonders for me when I used it. I don't know which other e-mail providers do this, but see if yours does! That way you don't ever have to see it again :)

Lorri, they tend to back off when they get a response back in a certain manner, they don't send anymore emails for a long while. The pdl emails I am receiving are ones that I have already gotten forgiven. Like I would be stupid enough to get another one. I will never get another pdl as long as I live. These damn loans almost cost us our home, vehicles, putting food on the table and on more than one occasion, my hubby was warned of his job if the pdls called his job again. Funny thing is, these places think it is so funny to call your place of employment and harass you. They don't realize that if they cost you your job, they won't get their money money any faster.

I find these emails so amusing some times; they really are manipulative and enticing. Have you seen the ones that talk about free gifts with the credit cards? I mean seriously, I am so grateful for being more aware and I really hope we can collectively come up with a solution to eradicate these emails.

I just received an email from cash central and they even had a line in the ad stating they were licensed in my state with a link to show the actual license...this is crazy.
Then I got emails from US fast cash, which I had a loan with them 2 years ago that I paid off. They actually sent the documents and still had all my information and said I just needed to sign and send back and click a link to confirm everything. I just immediatly deleted but there wasn't a link for me to remove my email from their list.

I keep getting letters in the mail from Xpress Cash asking me to take out another loan with them. This is after I sent them the letter asking for my account to be marked paid in full, which they agreed to do. But now they are asking me to borrow more money! That just seems kind of stupid on their part.

The other thing that really got me was that when I first started sending out the letter asking for my account to be marked paid in full, that I had a couple of my lenders inform me that I had come looking for them, that they had not solicited my business. Are you kidding me? The only reason that I took out my first loan was because I received tons of emails and finally clicked on one. I still get at least 10 or more emails PER DAY from payday lenders. Sure, we all went looking for them to get loans! No way that they solicited anyone's business!

A fair amount of "unsubscribe" options are actually a way for them to verify that they have sent to an active address, then they will just sell you out again.

Unless you know for a fact the company is on the up and up, don't unsubscribe. Instead, let's hope your email provider has a spam list that you can use to block the emails.

So that explains why instead of 100 spam messages every morning - there is now 400... uggggg

I've tried something new....for all the payday loans, i've been responding telling them that PDL's are illegal in my state and if they try to solicit me again I'll report them to the Atty General...its actually a lot of work...a really lot of work...but i think its worth it.

CT's Atty General received some sort of death threat yesterday. He was on the news saying that he handles primarily consumer related crimes and that most people don't like it. (I.E. the builder who didn't make the doorway to your spare room wide enough b/c the law in your town is that if the door way isn't X wide its considered a bedroom, and your property is only allowed to have up to a 3 bedroom home...so now you can't get your CO.....(happened to a colleague). I digress.

I think Blumenthal will be happy to put the kabash on PDL companies who solicit here.
