I am facing an unusual problem, not sure if you can help me! I am living at New York and my fiancé is at Mexico, Costa Rica. He was badly injured in storms; Wilma charged a high toll from him, since he was traveling by road at that time. I have decided to visit him and spend some days at his place helping him to come out from the strain.

I've few student loans and I've always tried to keep them current. I've not missed a single installment yet. I'm afraid if I leave my place, I won't be able to maintain them and they'll turn delinquent. Any suggestion, any info, how to solve this situation?

Hi Sophia,

Your effort to keep the student loans current is appreciable indeed.

Sorry to hear about you fianc??. I truly feel for you both. Anyway, you can contact your loan holder regarding this matter. They can suggest you some solution. Since you have a good payment records, they will be interested to cooperate you.

Two options, Deferment and Forbearance help you delay your payments. But both of them demand some time to be approved and the approval is again subject to some definite causes or special circumstances.

Go through the details of forbearance and deferment to know more about them.

Always feel free to ask your questions in the forums.

God bless.
